THE GREAT DELUSION
OF A GREATER DISILLUSION
CAUSED BY A GREAT ILLUSION
Delusion: an idiosyncratic belief or impression that is firmly maintained despite being contradicted by what is generally accepted as reality or rational argument, typically a symptom of a mental disorder. Example: The 2020 election was rigged with massive fraud.
Disillusion: disappointment resulting from the discovery that something is not as good as one believed it to be. Example: Never-lose Donald Trump lost the 2020 presidential election to what he called a loser, Joe Biden.
Illusion: something that deceives by producing a false or misleading impression of reality. Example: Donald Trump.
If you are still comforting yourself in the illusion that the refusal to concede the 2020 presidential election results was a grass-roots reaction to election frauds and not a well-planned and executed plan to subvert our democracy, the proof will come soon enough in the next 2024 presidential election. Everything that happens until that date has only one goal: to restore “Dear Leader” to his God-given mission to save America from the blood-sucking pedophile Democrats.
True, Donald Trump’s attempt to subvert democracy did not start until he had a taste of power and discovered through trials and errors how far he could go to ignore the institutions, the rule of law, and our democracy without consequences. Embolden by the weak responses and reactions to his increasingly authoritarian actions, Donald Trump correctly deduced that he could become like the many other authoritarian leaders he so admires.
It is also true that the “conspiracy” to subvert our democracy did not start until Trump lost his bid for a second mandate to the Oval Office. It is only then that the TADPOLE-GOP saw in Trump an opportunity to regain the only thing they truly care about: power. From that point on, lies, deceptions, moral bankruptcy, and obstruction to govern are fair game. But a conspiracy? Let’s first examine the “conspiracy” premise.
Conspiracy: a secret plan by a group to do something unlawful, immoral, illegal, or harmful.
If this standard definition of the word is still part of the English language here in America, it has completely lost its initial meaning since The Trump Party has rendered it obsolete. When applied to the plot to subvert our democracy, the terms “unlawful, illegal, and harmful” have been replaced by the words “legal, necessary, and patriotic.”
As for the word “secret,” that attribute no longer applies since the TADPOLE-GOP, Donald Trump, and all his enablers, in both their words and actions, are not coy about their intention to subvert our democracy.
The Trump Party’s claim is, therefore, correct; there is no plot, and everything is in the open for everyone to see, and a 4-point-plan to reinstate Donald Trump as president “in days, not years” started in earnest at CPAC[1] hours after it was clear that Trump had lost the 2020 presidential election.
